TZM rod is characterized by its high-temperature tensile strengthen and creep resistance. The Zr and Ti additions and their carbides (ZrC and TiC) turn the base molybdenum into a much harder and more creep resistant material with a recrystallization temperature of 300oC to 500oC higher than pure molybdenum. Both the stress-released and recrystallized TZM rods exhibit higher tensile strength than pure molybdenum, up to a working temperature of 1800 oC. In addition, the physical properties of TZM rod, such as melting point, thermal conductivity and thermal expansion remain very close to pure molybdenum. Therefore, TZM rod is a mechanically enhanced molybdenum material that has the capacity to bear critically thermal and mechanical erosion. The excellent thermal strength of TZM rod is very desirable for many high temperature resistance applications in the industries of aerospace, electronics, and high temperature treatment. CHEMETAL USA is a leading supplier of premium TZM rod. We offer TZM molybdenum rod with diameters ranging from 0.029 ″ to 4.0″ or more. TZM (titanium zirconium molybdenum) alloy rod is an attractive material for uses in the high strength, high temperature and vacuum reliant industries such as aerospace, electronics, and thermal treatment. Compared with the pure molybdenum, TZM alloys have a more stable crystalline structure and a higher recrystallization temperature. This is due to the small amount of zirconium and titanium doped into the molybdenum substrate. In addition, the composite carbides Mo2C, TiC and ZrC with the extremely fine size refine and restrain the crystalline grain of molybdenum and consequently helps Molybdenum TZM material become more weldable and creep resistant than pure molybdenum. Therefore, molybdenum TZM alloy rod ideally serves these industries especially when a working temperature range needs to be between 700 and 1400°C. High temperature TZM rod is a popular molybdenum-based alloy utilized in the furnace and in heat-treating structural components such as shielding and supporting parts. This is because it has a high creep resistance. What is more, TZM molybdenum rod is extremely suitable to make high temperature and high strength TZM moly forging dies for isothermal forging, non-ferrous and ferrous metals casting and Molybdenum piercing plugs. In addition, TZM alloy is an excellent choice as a weldable and higher recrystallization temperature material used to produce Molybdenum rocket nozzle.
