TZM sheet is fabricated from an alloy of the refractory metals molybdenum, zirconium, and titanium. TZM alloy is typically 99.5% molybdenum with 0.5% titanium, 0.08% zirconium, and 0.02% carbon added.

TZM sheet possesses a variety of valuable properties, such as high strength, creep resistance, hardness, and low vapor pressure in high temperature environments. Additionally, TZM sheet has a low coefficient of expansion, excellent resistance to heat and corrosion, and good machinability. Compared with pure molybdenum, TZM sheet has a more stable crystalline structure and a higher recrystallization temperature. This is due to the small amount of zirconium and titanium doped into the molybdenum substrate. In addition, the composite carbides Mo2C, TiC, and ZrC with the extremely fine size refine and restrain the crystalline grain of molybdenum and consequently help Molybdenum TZM sheets become more weldable and creep resistant than pure molybdenum sheet.

CHEMETAL USA is committed to the continuous research and development of molybdenum zirconium titanium (TZM) sheets of unsurpassed quality. We are now capable of machining TZM molybdenum sheets and plates with a range of thickness from 10 inches (25.4 cm) to less than 0.004 inches (0.1 mm).

TZM sheets need to go through a series of processes including hot rolling, warm rolling, cold rolling and others. Our TZM sheets are initially rolled out from sintered molybdenum compact. Before that, the molybdenum ingot is generally made by isostatic pressing and then sintering the pure molybdenum powders under a high temperature. Finally, the Molybdenum metal needs to be treated by several processes, such as a cross rolling process, vacuum annealing and leveling, depending on which conditions the customer requires.
